In 1991, after some research into handknitting and weaving yarns on the market in New Zealand, Marnie Kelly discovered there was a lot of product in the market, but very little using fibre under 23 microns and none using Superfine Kid Mohair, Merino and Polwarth wools. An avid spinner and weaver, she made garments for her family, finding that the fine wools did not have the 'prickle' factor of some of the coarser yarns on the market. So began the quest to breed sheep and goats with the same soft handling fibre. Marnie comes from a farming background and for over 20 years had a specialised flock of Natural Coloured Merino, halfbred sheep and 250 mohair goats. Today Touch Yarns are being exported around the world. Many visitors to New Zealand also purchase the quality yarns. Visit our showroom at 27 Fache Street, Town Centre, Clyde |
